Computer Age Systems opened in 1995. Greg and Diana started the business on Doncaster Road in East Doncaster with a fairly simple idea: sell people what they actually need, explain it in language they understand, and be there afterwards when something goes wrong.
Thirty years later that’s still the whole strategy.
We’re a family owned and operated business of five, including three qualified I.T. technicians. We’ve been at 63 Mitcham Road in Donvale since 2000. Some of the people who walk through the door have been coming since the first year, and a few now bring in computers for their children.
How we got here
- 1995 — The doors open. Greg and Diana start Computer Age on Doncaster Road, East Doncaster. Sales, advice and repairs for local families and small businesses.
- 1997 — The first technician. The first full-time technician joins, and the workbench starts running as hard as the front counter.
- 2000 — Donvale. The move to 63 Mitcham Road: a proper showroom, a full workshop out the back, and parking at the door.
- Today. Five staff, three qualified technicians, and a customer base built almost entirely on people telling other people.
What hasn't changed
- We tell you the truth about your computer. Including when the honest answer costs us the sale. If a repair isn’t worth the money against the age of the machine, we’ll say so. If the cheaper option will do the job, we’ll point at the cheaper option. It’s slower than upselling, and it’s why people come back for twenty years.
- The work happens here. There’s a workshop behind the counter. The technician who diagnoses your machine is the one who repairs it. Nothing gets couriered interstate and lost for three weeks.
- You can find us. Same address since 2000. If something isn’t right, you know exactly where we are — and that accountability is the point.
- We keep learning. The technology changes constantly. Our technicians train continually so the advice you get reflects what’s true now, not what was true in 2012.
Who we look after
- Households and individuals across Donvale, Doncaster, Templestowe, Mitcham, Nunawading, Blackburn, Box Hill, Ringwood, Warrandyte and the surrounding eastern suburbs. Repairs, upgrades, virus removal, data recovery, new machines and the patient explanation that goes with them.
- Small and medium businesses who need one number to ring — professional practices, trades, retailers, not-for-profits and family businesses. Managed support, servers and networks, Microsoft 365, cyber security, cloud and web design.
- Students and gamers who want a machine built properly, with room to upgrade it later rather than replace it.
Our integrity is your guarantee
It’s a plain sentence and we mean it literally. We’re a small local business trading under the same name at the same address for three decades. Our reputation is the only thing we have that a national chain can’t buy, and every job either adds to it or takes away from it.
That’s the whole accountability structure. It works better than most.
