Most people buy too much computer in one direction and nowhere near enough in another.

A machine bought on a specification sheet is a guess. We’d rather ask what you actually do with it, what annoyed you about the last one, and how long you want this one to last — and then recommend something. Sometimes that recommendation is that you don’t need a new computer at all.

New computers supplied and set up with honest advice

Working out what you actually need

Five minutes of questions saves a lot of money. The ones that matter:

  • What do you run? Email, browser and Word is a very different machine from Photoshop, AutoCAD, video editing or a room full of virtual machines.
  • Laptop or desktop? Desktops give more for the money, last longer and are far easier to repair. Laptops travel. Plenty of people are better off with a desktop and a cheap laptop than one expensive machine trying to be both.
  • How many screens, and how big? A second monitor is usually a better investment than a faster processor.
  • How long do you want it to last? A machine bought for three years and a machine bought for seven are not the same purchase.
  • Where does the data live? Local, on a server, or in Microsoft 365 — it changes what you need and how it gets set up.

What we supply

  • Business desktops and laptops — the business lines rather than the retail ones, because the warranty, the build and the parts availability are all better.
  • Custom-built desktops — we build them here, with parts chosen for the job and every one of them documented, so it can be repaired and upgraded later instead of replaced.
  • Workstations — for CAD, rendering, video and other work that punishes an ordinary machine.
  • Servers and network storage — where shared files, backups or line-of-business software need somewhere proper to live.
  • Monitors, docks and the rest — the parts of a desk that decide how the day actually feels.

If a machine from a retailer is genuinely the better buy for what you need, we’ll tell you that too.

Set-up, transfer, and what happens to the old one

A new computer is only finished when everything you had is on it and working.

  • Data transfer — documents, photos, browser bookmarks and saved passwords, moved across and checked.
  • Email — set up properly, with old mail intact and the accounts on your other devices still working afterwards.
  • Software and licences — reinstalled and reactivated, including the old programs whose licence keys nobody can find any more.
  • Printers, scanners and network — connected and tested before the machine leaves us.
  • The old machine — securely wiped if you’re passing it on, or kept as a backup, or repurposed. We won’t hand it back with your data still on it.

Frequently asked

No. We’re happy to advise on a machine you buy elsewhere, and to set it up for you once it arrives.

Not usually, once you compare like for like. What it definitely is, is repairable and upgradeable, which tends to matter more over the life of the machine.

Yes, including from a machine that no longer starts, in most cases. Bring both in and we’ll do the transfer here.

Anything new comes with it. If you’re moving from Windows 10 we’ll set things up so it looks and behaves as close to familiar as it reasonably can.

Yes — supplied, configured the same way as each other, and delivered ready to use rather than in boxes for someone to sort out.
